Take a break from watching sports

Addiction to sports I believe is a huge factor in holding people back from achieving their goals in life. The average American watches 5 hours of sports per week, that 20 hours per month! I think sports is the #1 time waste for people, especially males. It is critical part of people lives that I can’t count how many times in the last year I have seen someone watching a game during even during church service.

We all have desires to change our lives, build wealth, get healthier. Our world is filled with unfulfilled dreams burdening our souls. For sports fans, many are failing to take into account the enormous amount of time they spend engaging in sporting events. It’s interesting to see how people rearrange their entire lives around a game that makes no material impact in their lives. Work days are spent on our phones watching highlights, entire weekends are spent in front of our televisions mindlessly cheering for people who have no idea who you are. Layered on top of all this is sports betting and social media content and unfruitful conversations. It’s an endless pit for someone would wishes to make changes to their personal lives.

The world is challenging enough and I believe it will get more challenging for a large population of people who are not willing to retool and prepare themselves. If you are struggling and want more out of life, you should cut sports games from your life. You are spending time watching people win, while you’re essentially losing in life. It’s fascinating to me how people adorn themselves with team gear calling multi-billion dollar enterprises “their team” while those teams provide them no personal benefit beyond an adrenaline rush. The Dallas Cowboys or New York Knicks do not care about you, your family or the fact you maybe struggling to save money every month, pay school loans or make a car payment. Then why should they deserve 20 hours of your life every month.

I played sports the entire first half of my life. Once I stopped playing basketball professionally on college, I began to cut frequent sports games out of my life. It was a game changer for me. I realized that when you are trying to build a business or a career, you need to stay focused, there is always a backlog of things to do. Layer on top family commitments. It is unhelpful to have distractions to derail your momentum. Have I had moments I wished I saw the game winning shot or touchdown? Certainly, but there will always be another thrilling sports moment; but that game will be best enjoyed when I have court side front row seats because I’ve already earned my ability pay for it within thinking twice.
