Best Advice I’ve Heard Recently

“Honor your God given talent, and you will be successful”

If you are like me, you’ve probably known or are vaguely aware of what your God given talent is but you’ve been running from it. You’ve hidden it, you are afraid to share it, you are scared of what your friends and family will think; or you are simply not yet willing to put in the work needed to sharpen it so it impacts your life and others. I am trying to turn vagueness into focus, and figure out how to stop running from mine and honor it. You should to.

So, what are some ways you can figure out your God Given Talent(s):

  1. Pray that God makes it super clear to you: Spend time in prayer or meditation, asking for guidance to reveal your talents.
  2. Reflect on what you love: Consider activities you enjoy and feel naturally drawn to. Think about when you feel most alive and what you are doing during those times.
  3. Seek Feedback from Others: Ask (the right) friends, family, and mentors about what strengths they see in you. Sometimes, others can notice talents that you might overlook or take for granted.
  4. Try New Things: Experiment with new activities and hobbies to uncover hidden talents. Stepping out of your comfort zone can reveal abilities you didn’t know you had.
  5. Pay Attention to What Comes Easily: Notice tasks or activities that you find easy or intuitive, even if others might find them challenging. Your natural aptitudes can be indicators of your God-given talents.
  6. Consider Past Successes: Look back on your life and identify moments of success, no matter how small. Analyzing these successes can help pinpoint your natural abilities.
  7. Look for Patterns: Identify recurring themes in the things you enjoy and excel at. These patterns can highlight areas where your talents lie.
  8. Be Patient and Persistent: Understanding your God-given talents can take time and may evolve as you grow. Remain open and patient with yourself throughout the process.
